Spiral conveyor is a widely used material conveying equipment, mainly suitable for horizontal conveying or scenarios with an inclination angle less than 20 °, capable of conveying powdery and granular materials. However, it is not suitable for conveying materials with high viscosity and easy clumping, as these materials are prone to adhere to the screw, causing the conveyor to malfunction.
1、 Consider conveying capacity
When selecting a screw conveyor, conveying capacity is a key factor. Generally speaking, the larger the conveying capacity, the better it can meet the needs of large-scale production. When used in conjunction with a screening machine, it is necessary to accurately calculate the feeding amount of the screening machine, and then reasonably control the conveying amount of the screw conveyor in order to design the model of the conveyor technically. Increasing the conveying speed can enhance the conveying capacity, but for high-speed belt conveyors, special attention should be paid to issues such as vibration, noise, and start-up. The conveying speed of the chain conveyor should not be too high, otherwise it will increase the power load. In addition, the size of the components of the conveyor will also affect the conveying capacity of the screw feeder, and the length and inclination angle of the conveyor line are directly related to the total resistance and required power of the conveyor. Conveyors have both direct parallel feeding and specific inclination angles. The motor of the spiral feeder can be selected from adjustable speed motors or ordinary motors to flexibly control the conveying speed and hourly conveying volume.
2、 Pay attention to material characteristics
Due to the different characteristics of the conveyed materials, there may be unfavorable situations when using a screw conveyor. For example, if the material has high viscosity, it is easy to adhere to the blades and the inner wall of the conveyor, resulting in increased resistance during the conveying process and thus reducing production efficiency. The size of the conveyor pipe diameter also has an impact on work efficiency. Generally, conveyors with larger pipe diameters have higher conveying capacity and efficiency than those with smaller pipe diameters. If the conveying angle is too large, the pressure of the material on the bottom bearing will increase, especially when used vertically. If the bearing cannot withstand excessive pressure, it is highly likely to cause failure. The particle size, temperature, moisture content, abrasiveness, and corrosiveness of materials can all affect the conveying efficiency. Moreover, the speed of the conveyor is closely related to the characteristics of the material. High speed conveyors have strict requirements for production and assembly, and require good balance. Large and medium-sized conveyors usually have low rotational speeds, which may result in resource waste to a certain extent.
